Rooted in the servant ministry of Jesus, Parish Social Ministry values and supports the inherent dignity and interdependence of all people, providing and opportunity to minister to the diverse needs of the most vulnerable of our brothers and sisters, engaging people in various aspects through direct service, convening, and advocacy using the principles of Catholic social teaching. Our Food Pantry

Your donations of nonperishable goods help individuals and families within our parish boundaries receive food assistance. The Pantry is open 10 am to 2 pm Monday through Thursday for neighbors to select items. Emergency food is also given out when needed.

The Hopemobile

The Hopemobile provides scheduled rides for our parishioners to Mass, doctor's appointments and to ShopRite for shopping on Mondays. The van is wheelchair accessible. Call 516.308.3808 for information or to schedule a ride.
Volunteer Drivers and Companions are needed. 

Transportation Assistance

Volunteer parishioners provide transportation within Nassau County using their own cars to and from medical appointments for qualified parishioners. Drivers must be registered with the parish.

In Our Food Pantry

Food Pantry Volunteers are trained to assist weekly or occasionally as substitutes and help by answering phones, accompanying neighbors to the Food Pantry, collecting data or offering referrals for assistance.

Volunteers who assist weekly, or occasionally as substitutes, trained in areas including answering phones, accompanying neighbors to our food pantry, data collection and a variety of referrals for assistance.

Friendly Calls

Members of the parish regularly call the homebound to let our friends know that they are not forgotten. They love to hear what's going on in the parish and also talk about what's going on in their lives. If you or someone you know may appreciate a call, please contact the Social Ministry Office at 516-308-3808.

St. Vincent de Paul Society

We are parishioners who offer support and services to those in need.  We help people who are having difficulties paying their rent or utility bills or are in need of clothing or furniture.  No work of charity is foreign to us. We consider those whom we serve as our neighbors. Confidentiality is of utmost importance to us.

St. Anthony Ministry

Individuals and families bring the foods donated by parishioners after Masses from the St. Anthony statue in the Church Gathering area to the Food Pantry located in the Convent building.

Initial Bereavement Group

The group provides an opportunity for you to share your feelings freely and hopefully come to some understanding of the grief process for yourself and to know that you are not alone. The group includes a facilitator who has been trained by the Diocese and has personally experienced the death of a loved one. Wednesday afternoons from 1:30pm - 3:00pm, October 14, 21 and 28.

Learning how to live after a loved one dies from suicide

Led by a certified Grief and Bereavement Counselor who trained with the Diocese as a group leader and who has personally experienced the death of a loved one, the group provides an opportunity to share your feelings freely and hopefully come to some understanding of the grief process for yourself and so you know you are not alone.

SALT (Widows and Widowers Support Group)

This group invites past Initial Bereavement group members to come together and continue to share their challenges and listen to each other’s experiences.  The hope is to offer support on their journey of recovery. By sharing joy and sorrows, hearts are being renewed.

Cancer Support Group

Led by a trained facilitator, St. Raphael's Cancer Support Group is warm and supportive participants who have experienced some form of cancer. We meet on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of each month. For more information call Parish Social Ministry at 516-308-3808. 

National Association for Mental Illness (NAMI)

Led by trained facilitators and for family members who are struggling to cope with the mental health issues of a loved one. NAMI meets the first Tuesday of each month.
