Each of us has many opportunities to bring Christ's hope to people in our families, in our neighborhoods, in our world, and in our parish.  This is especially true when we know people are grieving. There are a variety of ways to serve the needs of those who have are mourning a loved one and need assistance in preparing a funeral. The cards below illustrate the many ways  Consolation Ministry walks with families and assures the proper rites of the wake, funeral and burial are observed.  If you are interested to assist in any area please contact the rectory 516-785-0236.

Trained parishioners meet and assist the family of the deceased with liturgy preparation, attend the wake and the funeral Mass.

Telephone and assign the needed ministers for each funeral. Volunteers meet bi-monthly to schedule commitments.

Parish lectors proclaim Scripture readings and intercessions at all funeral Masses

Parish Eucharistic Minister assist in distributing Holy Communion and serve as altar servers at funeral Masses.

Are present at the funeral Mass to greet guests and to distribute booklets.

Prepare and copy computer generated booklets for funeral Masses.

Bake or buy a cake and deliver it to the Funeral Home or the church for the family of the deceased.
