Welcome to St. Raphael’s Religious Education
Program. The goal of our programs is to provide children in our
parish with the opportunity for spiritual growth through
instructions, nurturing and family involvement. In doing so the
children and their families will deepen their relationship with God,
enhance their sense of belonging to the Church community and be
called to share their gifts and talents with others whom they meet
along their spiritual journey.
St. Raphael’s offers the following Religious
Education Programs:
FIRE
FIRE is the acronym for Families
Involved in Religious Education. It is an intergenerational program
that incorporates all ages of children and adults in one-lesson.
FIRE teaches the way families normally learn, through play,
experimentation and discovery. FIRE supports the concept of
lifelong catechesis in a society where the only two such models are
the Church and Family. It is based on an assumption that everyone
in the community has something to share.
PEP
This is a textbook-based religious education
program taught by grade level for grades one through eight. This one
hour lesson is taught by volunteer catechists in the classroom.
Parents share the responsibility for the class with others parents
by volunteering their time as sit in parents, hall monitors, office
support and door monitors. Classes are from September to May.
God’s Special Children (Special Needs)
No one is kept from religious instruction and
the sacraments because of a disability. We, at St Raphael’s are
blessed with very dedicated core group of catechists who work hard
to personalize the material for each individual child. Classes meet
on Wednesday at 4:30 p.m.
